Why Nebulon.

Hello, I’m Yongteng Wen, the founder of Nebulon.

I began following generative AI in 2021 and 2022. As I spent more time with it, I came to believe that this was an innovation at the level of language itself.

The telephone, telegraph, and internet helped language travel farther and faster. AI is beginning to change how we use it. Through conversation, we can draw on knowledge, write programs, and gradually turn an idea into something people can use.

Much of human civilization is built on language. We use it to pass on knowledge, organize our work, and imagine things together. When what language can do changes, our lives, work, and organizations change with it. This is what I began to believe then, and what I still want to explore today.

I was fortunate to encounter and believe in this early. Through my previous investment work, I also had the chance to support remarkable founders and be part of their journeys in building companies. Working alongside them showed me new possibilities and made me want to better understand the problems they faced.

I wanted to understand founders better, so I became one. I wanted to understand AI, so I began putting its possibilities into practice.

I started Nebulon with these two hopes. I am a founder too. The company I am building happens to be a venture capital firm.

I wanted to try things for myself. How can a lean organization work when AI becomes part of everyday life? How should research accumulate? How can people and tools work together? Where should we spend our time? We are building Nebulon Research and Nebulon Academic, and refining them as we use them. Our understanding of AI grows through this practical work.

Building things ourselves also gives us more to talk about with founders. We can compare what we are trying, which views have changed, and which questions remain unanswered. I value these conversations and want to let them change how I think.

I look forward to working alongside the most thoughtful and ambitious young founders of this era. Every generation has its own experiences and opportunities. I want to listen carefully to how they understand the world, why they choose a particular problem, and the future they want to create. We can have different views and speak openly about our concerns. I respect their own direction, and hope to help them think things through and move forward when they need it.

The spirit of entrepreneurship is something I ask of myself too: to form my own judgment, act on what I believe, learn amid uncertainty, and take responsibility for my choices. Nebulon is being built in this same way, one step at a time.

I hope this becomes a community where people can create together. We do research and share our understanding of the world. We build tools and explore new ways of working. Through Chapter One, we document founders and their beginnings. In time, I hope we will do things together that we have not yet imagined.

I hope these efforts bring us closer to one another. When it matters, perhaps we can share a useful perspective, find someone to work with, or simply sit down and think carefully about the problem in front of us.

This is the Nebulon I want to build.
